Seabourn, an ultra-luxury cruise line, recently celebrated the keel laying for its first ultra-luxury purpose-built expedition ship, Seabourn Venture, during a ceremony at the T. Mariotti shipyard in San Giorgio di Nogaro, Italy.
The keel-laying ceremony marks a significant milestone in the construction of Seabourn Venture, scheduled to debut in June 2021.
“This milestone is always an exciting moment, as it represents another step forward in a new chapter of expedition cruising for Seabourn and our guests,” said Richard Meadows, president of Seabourn. “I am incredibly proud of the way our fleet has continued to evolve and deliver over more than three decades of the finest cruise experience on the seas.”
In addition, Seabourn also announced the ship’s inaugural season itineraries. Between June 2021 and April 2022, Seabourn Venture will travel to remote destinations in the Arctic and Antarctica, Amazon, Caribbean, Central America, and South America.
A second Seabourn expedition vessel, still to be named, is scheduled to launch in May 2022. The new ships will have a brand new innovative design, created specifically for the ultra-luxury expedition traveler.
Modern Technology and Design
Both vessels are being built for diverse environments to PC6 Polar Class standards and will include an array of modern hardware and technology that will extend their global deployment and capabilities.
The new expedition ships will feature two custom-built submarines, providing an unforgettable view of the world beneath the ocean’s surface. The ships will also be designed to carry a complement of double sea kayaks, mountain bikes and e-bikes as well as 24 Zodiacs that can accommodate all onboard guests at once.
Leading travel experts with experience in expedition, hospitality, and ultra-luxury cruising will be on hand to provide personalized service.
Renowned hospitality designer Adam D. Tihany is designing the public areas and all categories of the ship’s 132 luxurious all veranda, all ocean-front suites, including the first-ever two story Grand Wintergarden Suite, as well as a bespoke furniture collection for both expedition vessels.
