Celebrity Cruises welcomed its newest ship, the 3,405-passenger, 130,000-gross-ton Celebrity Apex, to its new home in Ft. Lauderdale in October.
Celebrity Apex was built at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France. As it made its way across the Atlantic, it was greeted near the Bahamas by five fleetmates, which “danced” in celebration.
A sister to the groundbreaking Celebrity Edge, the ship was handed over to the cruise line during a virtual ceremony earlier this year.
Originally, the Celebrity Apex was going to be christened on March 30 in Southampton, U.K., but it was postponed due to the pandemic. It was then going to be christened when it arrived in Fort Lauderdale, but it is unclear when that ceremony will take place now.
Celebrity Apex Second Ship in Edge-Series
Celebrity Apex encores the transformational look and feel of the line’s first Edge Series ship, Celebrity Edge, such as the Magic Carpet lounge that glides up and down the ship’s exterior side, 29 restaurants and bars, soothing indoor and outdoor garden escapes, and entertainment features and experiences guaranteed to make Celebrity Apex the industry’s “it” ship.
Luxurious accommodations include the magnificent two-story Edge Villas with private terraces and plunge pools, and dramatically expanded staterooms with Infinite Verandas. Celebrity Apex will also debut new, all-inclusive amenities and pre-cruise concierge services in The Retreat for all suite guests.
