You’ll also visit Ken Burns’ studio in Walpole, New Hampshire and discover how New England is intertwined with many of the stories he’s told: Mark Twain, Baseball, The Civil War and The National Parks.

Itinerary at a Glance

DAY 1: Arrive Boston

Transfer from Logan International Airport to The Westin Copley Place. This evening, enjoy a welcome reception at the hotel followed by dinner at a local restaurant. (D).

DAY 2: Boston

In his films Baseball and The Tenth Inning, Ken Burns offers a glimpse into the soul of baseball. Experience some of baseball’s mystic on a guided tour of Fenway Park, America’s oldest ballpark and home of the Boston Red Sox since 1912. Next, an orientation tour of the city follows the historic Freedom Trail. The remainder of the day is free to explore Boston as you please. (B,L)

DAY 3: Lexington & Concord – Berkshires

Depart the city of Boston for the nearby for the historical towns of Lexington and Concord. First, travel to the Lexington Battle Green, where the “shot heard ’round the world” was fired; and Concord’s Old North Bridge and Minute Man National Historic Park. Stop for lunch en route to the city of Pittsfield in the Berkshires, for a late afternoon arrival at your boutique hotel. (B,L,D)

DAY 4: Berkshires – Manchester, Vermont

In fall, witness the blazing autumn foliage in the Berkshires, a retreat for artists and writers. Begin in Stockbridge at the Norman Rockwell Museum and visit his preserved studio. Next, head to Hancock Shaker Village in Pittsfield for a private “Lunch, Grace & Song” tour of this former Shaker settlement, founded in 1783. Continue on to Manchester, Vermont for an overnight at a historic New England mountain resort. (B,L,D)

DAY 5: Vermont – New Hampshire

Depart Vermont and drive into the New Hampshire countryside for an exclusive insider look at Ken Burns’s private film studio in Walpole, where his Florentine Films was founded, with some free time in town and lunch on your own. In fall, indulge in autumnal panoramas of New Hampshire’s White Mountains. Arrive in Bretton Woods for a a two-night stay at the spectacular Omni Mount Washington Resort, a National Historic Landmark. (B,D)

DAY 6: White Mountains

Your day in the beautiful White Mountains starts with a “New Hampshire Maple Experience” and a tasting of maple syrup, maple sugar products, and homemade sour pickles. Back at the hotel, enjoy lunch, a free afternoon to enjoy your historic resort and dinner at your leisure. (B,L,D)

DAY 7: York Harbor, Maine

Begin your day with a wildlife talk about the ecology of the landscapes you’ll journey through today on your way to Maine. You’ll arrive midday at Perkins Cove in Ogunquit, named by the Abenaki tribe, which means “beautiful place by the sea.” Explore this coastal Maine region with a walk along the famed Marginal Way trail, with spectacular breathtaking vistas. In the evening, enjoy a farewell reception and dinner at your hotel. (B,D)

DAY 8: Depart York Harbor

Transfer from your hotel in York Harbor to Boston’s Logan International Airport for your return flight home. (B)
