Recently, we read a blog from Big 5 listing their favorite sundowner locations. A sundowner is a favorite destination spot to enjoy drinks with friends and loved ones as the sun sets. No matter the location, the sundowner moment allows you to relax and simply enjoy your surroundings. No worries. No stress.
The list from Big 5 of their favorite spots got us thinking about our own top 5 favorite sundowner locations. Here they are (in no particular order).
1. Ipanema Beach, Rio de Janeiro
After a full-day of sightseeing during our stay on Ipanema last year, we grabbed a cold one at a beachside café, dug our toes in the sand, and watch the day turn into night.
2. Mekong River, Vietnam
While touring Vietnam, we had the opportunity to take a sunset cruise along the Mekong River and explore the Mekong Delta. Relaxing on deck with a favorite sundowner while watching the sun set over the Mekong was phenomenal.
3. Santorini, Greece
Greece is one of our favorite cruise locations. The northern village of Oia provides spectacular ocean views and is considered by many the premier place to savor a sundowner and watch the sunset.
4. Great Pyramids, Egypt
We’re still talking about the sunset we saw while touring the Great Pyramids on our Egypt cruise tour. We were surrounded by some of our closest friends enjoying one of the most dramatic sunsets we’ve ever seen.

There’s nothing better than to gather at the end of a fun-filled California day, watch the waves break the shoreline, and tip your drink to an amazing sunset.
